For seniors living in care residences, particularly those with limited mobility or access to nature, the simple pleasure of gardening can become a meaningful source of comfort, stimulation and happiness.
Through its Blooming Moments Healthcare Planter Program, the Foundation brings the therapeutic benefits of nature directly into healthcare environments.
Over four consecutive weeks, residents participate in gardening activities adapted to their abilities and led by qualified horticultural facilitators. Planting, touching, smelling, caring for plants and sharing garden memories become opportunities to reduce stress, stimulate the senses, rekindle memories and strengthen social connections.
At the heart of the program is the JASMA Healthcare Planter, a mobile, height-adjustable planter that enables residents, including those using wheelchairs, to rediscover the pleasure of indoor gardening safely, throughout the year.
Our goal this fall is to raise $5,000 to offer more Blooming Moments programs in long-term care residences.
